En 2000, le groupe Fall Out Boy voit le jour.
Composé de Patrick Stump, Andrew Hurley, Joseph Trohman et Pete Wentz, le groupe de rock s'investit pour son premier album qui vera le jour en 2001.
Deux ans plus tard, le quatuor livre son premier véritable album, " Evening Out with Your Girlfriend". Le second opus de la formation, Take this to your grave, arrive dans les bacs en 2003.
Suivent My Heart Will Always Be B-Side To My Tongue (2004),
From Under The Cork Tree (2005) qui les rendra célebres suite à de nombreux passages aux médias et Infinity On High (2007).


Fall Out Boy est un groupe formé au début de l'année 2001 par Joe Trohman et Pete Wentz. Les deux jouaient dans différents groupes punk hardcore de la région de Chicago. Ils ont décidé de lancer leur groupe dans le même style que ce qu'ils écoutaient à l'époque tel que Green Day, Descendents, ou The Smiths. Trohman a rencontré au lycée Patrick Stump dans un magasin Borders. Trohman s'est présenté à Stump quand il a vu qu'il parlait du groupe Neurosis, dont ils sont tous les deux fans.Stump a été auditionné pour la batterie, mais peu de temps après ils ont découvert ses qualités vocales et il est devenu le chanteur du groupe.
Deux autres musiciens ont été recrutés pour jouer alors à la batterie et à la guitare. Le groupe a sorti l'album "Evening Out with Your Girlfriend" sous le label Uprising Records en 2003.
Le groupe était sans nom pour leurs deux premiers concerts. À la fin de leur second concert, ils ont demandé au public de la salle s'ils avaient une idée de nom. Un spectateur a proposé Fallout Boy, une référence aux personnage associé aux Simpson qui est Radioactive Man.


En février 2007, le groupe sort l'album Infinity On High. Le premier extrait de l'album est le titre "This Ain't a Scene, It's an Arms Race" qui s'est classé #11 en France dans la semaine du 20 mai au 26 mai 2007 et #5 dans le monde avec 2 230 000 de copie de l'extrait vendu. Fall Out Boy passe en boucle sur les ondes françaises tel que NRJ, Europe 2... Prochainement, la sortie de leur nouveau titre "Thanks For The Memories", qui fera en core plus je pense, de vente en France que le précédent.

Pete Wentz a participé à un episode de One Tree Hill (Les Frères Scott), lors de la 3ème saison épisode 18. Un autre épisode de la série mettant en vedette le groupe au complet dans lequel ils interprètent Dance, Dance. Le groupe a fait 2 apparitions (3° saison dans les épisodes 4 et 15) lors d'un concert organisé au Tric ou ils ont interprété " A Little Less Sixteen Candles , A Little More Touch Me ".
